About me

I am a permaculture practitioner and educator living in Saltaire, West Yorks, England.  Being an artist is central in my design and educator work and I am currently exploring new ways to weave my creative practice. I’m passionate about bringing permaculture into everyday events and situations and this is demonstrated through my workshop facilitation, art, community events participation (including opening my garden several times each year), writing and assessment tutor work in the Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design

My current permaculture design interests/passions are:- Urban permaculture, Edible gardening,  Urban wildlife habitat design, Health and wellbeing,  Planning and time management,  Death, dying and bereavment,  Accessing Permaculture for people with disabilities and/or chronic illness, and  Earth Based Spirituality.

I started learning about permaculture in my early twenties as a way of finding positive solutions to heal Earth and her communities. In 2011 I undertook a Permaculture Design Course (PDC) with the late Patrick Whitefield at Ragmans Farm, England and then in 2013 I completed a second PDC - Earth Activist Training - with Starhawk in Cazadero, California. In September 2015 I completed the Permaculture Association (Britain) Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design. And later the same year, completed a 2 week residential course run by Looby Macnamara and Peter Cow, to improve and consolidate knowledge and skill, relating to facilitating people focused permaculture events. I’ve completed my assessment level training as a Diploma (in Applied Permaculture Design) tutor and am currently midst undertaking my 3rd PDC, with Liz Postlethwaite.

I write regular articles and reviews for both Permaculture Magazine and the Permaculture Women's Guild Magazine. England as well as my own blog.  I sell cards, prints and zines from my webshop and am sometimes available to take on commissions for my creative work.

My website,  ktshepherdpermaculture.com is the "hub" for my work as a permaculture educator:-  and includes free access to some of my illustrations, my webshop,  my favourite permaculture resources and information about my Diploma tutor work.
