About me

I am dedicated to preserving life supporting systems in nature and in society. I am a permaculture diploma tutor, based in Denmark, and I currently have diploma apprentices in six different countries. My main areas are organisation, communication, natural building and sustainable living. Teaching permaculture has become a big part of my livelihood. I teach 2-3 PDCs per year and teach Teacher Trainings and do intro-courses and talks and forest garden workshops. I am the co-founder of the Nordic Permaculture Academy, aimed at mentoring diploma holders in the Nordic and Baltic countries.

My background in geography, extensive travels and working within governmental and non-governmental sectors has given me experiences with especially poverty, gender, community development, ethnic minorities and the environment in a global context. I took an interest in permaculture first time in South Africa in 2000 while working with Zulu farmers and have studied and applied permaculture principles in my later work in Nepal and Vietnam. I have also worked as a consultant evaluating and documenting rural development projects including permaculture projects and Farmer Field Schools. In early 2010, the time was finally ripe for me to take the permaculture design course in New Zealand. Permaculture has been since then become my livehood.

Diploma Tutor Skills

My experience as a geographer is about working with the interface between humans, human society and nature both in Denmark, South Africa and Asia. I have a broad outlook and understanding of international distribution of labour and goods, enabling me to understand permaculture on a global scale. More practically, I have experience in non-land based designs such as developing skills within permaculture teaching and teacher training. I have worked a lot with communication, public relations, journalism, photography and graphic design in paid jobs and in my function as board member of the association Permakultur Danmark. I have also in this context successfully done fundraising for EU mobilities and to set up a LAND project in Denmark. Within land based designs I have experience of designing and building a multi-functional load bearing straw bale house. I have worked out a homestead design for my own living including a forest garden, a rocket mass heater, and working with seaweed as mulch and creating a local, fossil fuel free tea. I am now fully engaged with the Nordic Permaculture Academy as an organiser, educator and diploma mentor.
