A 60 acre community farm which aims to reconnect people to land

FarmEco is a community farm with a vision to build a sustainable farming model that benefits the community and the environment. Over the 60 acres, there is an edible woodland undergrazed by sheep, an agroforestry field planted rows of apple trees with heritage wheat in the strips in between, a small woodland, an area being converted back to wetland, a labyrinth with a Miyawaki tiny forest and animal paddocks. The businesses and projects running out of the buildings include Men in Sheds, Urban Worm, Buttercross Food Boxes, Thorpe Performance (fitness hub), Cafe Velo Verde. There are plans to set up a native tree nursery, a small market garden and install composting toilets. The farm is in the process of conversion to organic farming. There is a lot going on!

The farm has regular volunteer days once or twice a week which are open to everyone. Activities can vary from fruit picking, tree planting or pruning to helping with sheep shearing. A wildlife group conducts bird spotting and nature conservation activities. We also run farm experience days, nature connection workshops, forest school, open days and farm tours. See the website or other social media for dates and times.
