Permaculture community allotment in Hull

We started in 2015 having been given half an acre of land by Hull City Council to create a community allotment. We were fortunate to obtain substantial funding, which enabled us to buy two poly tunnels, a shipping container and a compost toilet with full disabled access.

We have a replica Iron Age Roundhouse, which was built as part of a workshop and a cob pizza oven which we use on many occasions. We are planning to add walls using straw bales and cob.

We have a small Forest Garden area, which is developing slowly but surely and started to build a pond last year, but put this on hold due to drought conditions. Our site is designed using permaculture ethics, principles and techniques and we are currently in the process of becoming a permaculture LAND Centre.

We run a donation scheme for a few weeks during the summer, during which time our donors are thanked with a weekly veg box! . We are an inclusive site, with disabled access and toilet facilities.

We welcome volunteers , and are open Wednesday and Friday 10.30 till 1.30 and will soon open on Saturdays. We run a variety of events throughout the year, both social and educational.
