We have been working in collaboration with expert permaculture teachers to create a programme of courses that draw from a wide variety of experience and knowledge. Our courses are regularly updated, if you sign up to our Online Learning mailing list and you will be the first to hear about any new courses as soon as they are available.

On this course, you will:

  • Learn about permaculture through videos and case studies of people applying permaculture to their lives and their gardens, allotments or community land
  • Apply permaculture design in your life with the help of lots of tools and exercises
  • Cover 6 modules including a nature-based approach, permaculture principles, how to apply permaculture, design frameworks, design methods and your next steps
  • Connect with fellow learners globally and feedback on each other's design work
  • Gain an Introduction to Permaculture certificate* (*only on teacher-led courses because you need at least 4 hours of teacher led time to qualify for this).

This course goes further than standard introductory courses as you get to develop your first design and share it with your peer group.

In this course, you'll learn how to apply regenerative practices and permaculture techniques to design and grow a garden that optimises the time and energy you put in, in order to produce high yields of delicious, nutritious food.

On this course, you will learn about:

  • Organic gardening, growing food and herbs is a lifestyle and with the right information will stay with you forever.

  • In this course we will give you all the information you need to get started with growing food, even in the smallest of spaces.

  • Essential information, such as healthy soil - needed to grow healthy abundant crops without costing the earth - information that’s often missing from horticultural courses and the Introduction to permaculture.

  • Bonus topics such as perennials and cycles to dive deeper into understanding nature and how this applies to their small spaces.

  • Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll be ready to grow your own food and love eating it.

Think like a Tree – Nature’s Principles

Self-study course 

Sarah Spencer's 'Think like a Tree' course is now available on the Permaculture Community Hub as a self-study course! 

Sarah's course teaches about the 22 natural principles harnessed from disciplines such as permaculture, biomimicry, systems-thinking and regenerative cultures and unlocks how we humans can learn from the wisdom that has developed an abundance of life for the past 3.8 billion years.

Think like a Tree offers three inter-connected phases on your regenerative, nature-inspired journey:

1. Deeply connect with nature (via activities we'll share with you)

2. Learn from nature's wisdom (via the natural principles throughout the course)

3. Take action - make the changes you want to see in your life, your surroundings and our world (through the activities and exercises we'll guide you through).

The Nature's Principles course also encourages you to share your insights with others via the Permaculture Learn and Connect community course platform so you'll never feel alone on your nature-inspired journey.
