What is the Festival of Permaculture?

The Festival of Permaculture began life at a national gathering of permaculture enthusiasts (Convergence). It has grown into a community of people seeking to make meaningful changes to the way they live, garden, grow food and cohabit on the earth.

With a focus on permaculture design, practical workshops and inspiring speakers, this year’s event will be focused on the power of Community.

The Permaculture Association and its thousands of members around Britain and the planet have been cultivating healthy communities for four decades. This year we will be celebrating the power of those communities to inspire meaningful, actionable, collaborative change.

A community of changemakers

Our workshops are facilitated by our wonderful Festival community. Whether you are just starting out on your permaculture adventure or you are an elder, we welcome all people and all perspectives. It’s the rich, diverse conversations that happen when we are together, that are the springboard for change. Join your permaculture tribe and work together to develop solutions for your ecosystem, your community and our planet.

Practical sessions

Whether it is learning how to apply biodynamic preparations to your compost, site your compost toilet, carve a spoon, make an oak peg or spin some yarn, there will always be something to turn your hand to throughout the weekend.

Whilst we encourage everyone to get involved, we appreciate that leaving space for discussion and connecting with your fellow attendees is just as valuable.

Laugh together

Our evenings are a time for reflection and celebration, we aim to have something to suit your energy levels.

Tell stories by the fire, lose yourself in the sounds of Eliza Delf & the Wilderness Collective, jam with KMT, get pedalling to power Rakesh's pedal-powered reggae sound system or cosy down in our cinema. Bring an instrument, a story or just yourself.

Exhibit at the Festival of Permaculture

The Marketplace is where attendees to the event can showcase their products, services, projects and causes to our audience of permaculture practitioners and enthusiasts. There are two areas for exhibitors and traders, one in an undercover area and one out on the festival field for those with their own gazebos or market stall structures.

We’re keen to showcase the best of the permaculture, ethical and regenerative business world and support charities and community groups working in this field. Stall pitches cost £25 for the weekend or, for our Permaculture Discovery Day on Sunday, pitches are by donation.

Partner with the Festival of Permaculture

For 40 years, the Permaculture Association has been running permaculture gatherings! Over that time our ambition has grown and we want to reach more people with permaculture. We are looking to partner with organisations and individuals so that we can offer bursary places, reach more people and grow our movement!
