Course summary

Keela Permaculture Farm’s Permaculture Design Course is officially certified by the Permaculture Association. This course is offered multiple times throughout the year and covers the comprehensive 72-hour PDC syllabus, emphasizing permaculture systems, hands-on experience, and the completion of a personal design project. It is ideally suited for individuals seeking to integrate permaculture into their lives, particularly those who own land, intend to start a permaculture project, or wish to grow food.

Participants will experience off-grid living within a supportive community, fostering a profound connection with nature. They will enjoy nutritious organic meals and have the option to engage in calisthenics or yoga classes. The functional 52-acre permaculture farm showcases food forests, agroforestry, and various sustainable natural buildings crafted from straw bale, cordwood, and cob. Students will have the opportunity to observe practical applications of permaculture systems, including the integration of sheep, pigs, and chickens.

Throughout the course, each student will choose a personal project, establishing a direct link between the curriculum and their individual interests. Projects may range from designing a garden on their own land to revitalizing a parent's garden or balcony, or even implementing a worm farming system—anything that aligns with their future aspirations.

The PDC is available as a standalone two-week course, or participants can opt to stay for one month to join subsequent courses in Natural Building and Permaculture in Practice.

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certified Permaculture Design Course certificate, recognizing their acquired knowledge and skills in permaculture principles and design.

With this certificate, you will then be able to:
