Dream Big Campfire

9th April 2024, 6.30pm- 8pm BST

Dream Big, Take Small Steps: The Story of Sol Haven with Sammuel Yisrael.

All big dreams are rooted in a purpose and Sol Haven's is to grow community well-being through a profound reconnection with nature.

Sammuel and Natasha from Sol Haven, run a sustainable permaculture farm and an educational rejuvenation centre engaging over 500 people each year to nurture stronger communities, enable individuals to lead healthier and more active lives, hone essential life skills, combat social isolation, and instil the confidence required to face life’s challenges.

But where did they begin? How did they go from a seed to running a flourishing ecotherapy centre? What does it mean to improve the well-being of our communities? Join Sammuel to hear about their story from an idea to winning multiple lottery bids, delivering life-changing support programmes and putting nature at the heart of this transformation.

Decision making campfire

16th May 2024, 6.30pm- 8pm BST

Decision-making for small groups: Beyond cultures of domination and individualism.

Permaculture is much more powerful when we collaborate with others. Yet, how can we collaborate and make decisions together when we've been conditioned in top-down cultures of domination? What could be a more mature approach, despite the temptation of individualism?

And what about our emotions and bodily experiences? Can they be a gift in working with others, rather than an obstacle to fight against, marginalise, or a driver that runs the show?

In this exploratory workshop, which may be more about unlearning than learning, we will open a conversation on some of these key questions. We will discover together what makes healthy, collaborative decision making in small groups and teams, so we can work more effectively together.

Individual actions lead to collective impact: 100 Voices for our Planet with Guest Sonono and Lumbie Mlambo.

A story of remarkable individuals and organisations whose commitments to eco-conscious living are shaping a sustainable future for our planet.

Lumbie, founder of JB Dondolo, and author of 100 Voices for Our Planet, is on a 7-year mission to collect 100 stories about people who are passionate about protecting the environment. Through her work at JB Dondolo, they provide access to clean water, with a specific focus on enhancing the health and economic opportunities for women and girls in underserved communities with special attention on the African continent.

Lumbie will take us through the UN’s Water Action Agenda, and share some of the fascinating stories she has uncovered. By sharing stories from all corners of the planet, Lumbie is working towards a shift towards individuals to begin living an environmentally conscious lifestyle as a means to save our Planet.

Guest Sonono, permaculture designer, educator and PAB member was recently featured in the UN Report, 100 Voices for our Planet. Guest joins us to share his inspiring story about his revolutionary work in Zimbabwe running a 1.5 acre Permaculture Demonstration site, raising chickens, growing vegetables and herbs, a rainwater harvesting system and sharing his work in his community and developing a food forest.
