"Packaging is essential to the safe and sustainable delivery of food to people (especially in Covid times) in so many places where people get their food from supermarkets. The correct choice of the packaging depends so much on having a clear understanding of what happens to the package after its initial use. Plastics, paper glass or aluminium can be the best choice in many applications but is essential to have the circularity to ensure we don't create an additional problem addressing the end of life later or waste the resource. Too much good packaging is simply dropped into the waste bin which diminishes the effort of the designing packaging to be recyclable. It is so important that we are now seeing brand-owners driving the use of recycled content which is the engine of circularity."
