This is a long term project for The Association. In 2013-14 we completely re-wrote the existing Knowledge Base, creating 300 new entries; you can access this by clicking the 'Knowledge Base' tab on the top bar. Since then we have consistently worked to improve the layout, the text, and the visual content. Major upgrades occurrred in 2016, 2018, and 2019-20. In 2021 we appointed Marianne Linfield to review and overhaul all the knowledge resources produced by the Association, starting with the Knowledge Base. The development of a new Association website in 2022 gives us the greatest opportunity yet to produce a resource of international authority and relevance. We know the Knowledge Base is already well used and well appreciated, and it has huge potential, so we are continually seeking further funding to allow us to give it the attenion it deserves. The project vision: 1. The Permaculture Association will become a world-class provider of knowledge to support the millions of people across the globe who wish to learn to meet their needs in ways which preserve and increase ecosystem health. 2. We will develop a world class knowledge base which captures best practice, experiences, research, case studies and other forms of knowledge from across the network. 3. The Knowledge Base will use using the latest research in the field to ensure it meets the needs of all its stakeholders and will eventually be a self-managing living system which will be the go-to reference for permaculturists and others across the UK and beyond. The direct outcomes of the project: 1. Permaculture practitioners will be able to access resources and practical solutions to improve their practice through a comprehensive permaculture knowledge base. 2. Permaculture novices will be able to access simple projects that they are able to do with their existing resources. 3. Permaculture practitioners will be able to share knowledge person-to-person through communities of practice, both online and face-to-face, skills sharing events, and direct contact such as tutorials and skills swaps. We offer the Knowledge Base as a free resource, but welcome donations to support its on-going development.
