Wellness through permaculture in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park
We are a small retreat centre with four acres including ancient woodland, a bee and insect friendly vegetable garden run on permaculture princlples with an 'eco-reservoir' under construction.

We promote wellness through living in tune with the natural environment. This includes growing our own produce, cooking plant based dishes for guests. And we manage our ancient woodland to nurture its biodiversity.

Mark spent 30 years as a commercial grower and landscaper and now uses his accumulated skills to run the site on permaculture principles. His latest project is our eco-reservoir to collect rainwater for the whole site while providing additional habitat. Our menagerie of rescue animals have their own areas and provide valuable fertiliser.

Lorraine is the author of Why the Chinese Don't Count Calories which espouses the wisdom of traditional diets. She is also a yoga teacher and an Ayurvedic Wellness Consultant and demonstrates how to cook simple digestible plant based dishes.

We welcome visitors by arrangement and love to share experiences and ideas. Guests who would like to stay a while can join us for an organised retreat which also includes yoga and mindfulness. Or book into a log cabin for a peaceful break only two miles from the bustling town of Whitby.
