Community project in mid-Suffolk Community run project in rural Mid Suffolk. All our courses are rooted in environmental education, especially learning from the past how we can build a greener future using locally sourced trees and earth. We run professional courses in heritage building practices, hobby courses in greenwood work and volunteer working parties. OBee CIC (established 2007) run Orchard Barn which is a 1.5 acre site; a 17th century barn set in a traditional orchard. We have a community supported vegetable growing area comprising Hugelkulture raised bed. Compost making is central to our operation. The site is intentionally 'off-grid' and harvests its own water, uses predominantly human energy instead of fossil fuels and enjoys full use of a compost toilet that we built from coppice chestnut poles and wattle and daub.
