An Eco Croft at Achnacree nourishing soil and soul. Ecosystem Restoration & Permaculture Design.

As a registered permaculture learning and demonstration site, we focus on building soils, regenerating ecosystems, producing an abundance of food for both people and wildlife and teaching others how to do the same. 15 acres on the wild, wet and wonderful west coast of Scotland in North Argyll.

This croft has been in our family since the end of the nineteenth century and, although it has not been a working croft all that time, is now well on the way to providing for many of our day to day needs. The croft is named after my grandfather, John Adrian, who bought it from the Loch Nell estate in 1948 having inherited the tenancy from his uncle.

The croft is situated on the North side of Loch Etive, along the road to Bonawe. The croft comprises of two fields; 10 acres on the North of the road, on the Moss of Achnacree, much of which has reverted to native birch woodland; and a 5 acre field lying between the road and the Loch and are currently cultivating.
