Paramaethu Tywi
We are a friendly group of over 70 members, whose aim is to spread the word of permaculture in the Tywi Valley and Carmarthenshire. Our Facebook page is an active hub for our ‘Virtual Village’ where we can look for help and share knowledge, plants, seeds and tools.
We hold monthly Permablitzes with an average attendance of around 20, and tasks have ranged from building indoor rocket stoves to raising polytunnels and sheds. This followed by a shared feast where much conversation and inspiration takes place.
Training and education is an important element of what we do. We have run formal events such as Introduction to Permaculture courses and Permaculture Design Certificate courses, to informal workshops such as bread making and tool repair and maintenance. We also have regular social events such as our pub nights, film nights, and large gathering with external speakers who have included Geoff Lawton and Charles Dowding.
Our latest venture is our 'Designers’ Guild' which will support members working on permaculture designs. Future plans include building a bank of shared resources such as food preservation equipment.
