If you have completed a Full Permaculture Design course and would like to teach permaculture to others, teacher training courses provide essential skills and up to date information about how to do this.
If you are teaching adults within the 'lifelong learning sector', then you are likely to come across a range of regulations and hurdles. Essentially any course that recieves public money, from the Learning and Skills Council for example, will usually need to demonstrate that the trainers have 'suitable' qualifications. The basic training needed is now called 'PTLLS' or 'Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector'. The courses are run across the UK and you can find out more by contacting your local Workers Education Association office, or FE college. The sector as a whole is now overseen by the Institute for Learning.
The UK permaculture network also supports people to gain teaching skills. Designed Visions runs a Training of Teachers (aka"ToT") course which is highly recommended. The Association has also been piloting a mini-ToT held over a weekend for people just starting out and wanting to help run presentations and introductory courses, as part of the LAND project.
