Willow Basket Weaving – From Square 2 Round

A two day basket weaving workshop in traditional ‘stake and strand’ basket making, using willow grown at Denmark Farm on the wetland system with some prepared willow to add colour and texture.

Over these 2 days we will be working with different traditional basketry techniques, starting with a square base and working the sides up to a round top. You can use these techniques to make a particularly interesting log basket, wastepaper basket, shopper, kitchen bin basket, etc.

Most suitable for people with some previous basket making experience, however if you are a beginner you are very welcome to join us so long as you are not too ambitious with the overall size of your basket.

All tools and materials provided. If you have your own sharp secateurs and a knife, please bring them along.

Please wear warm old clothing.
