We have a team of teachers with different skills, experience and enthusiasm to give you a great taste of the wonderful range of permaculture, including experience of applying permaculture within homes and gardens, farms and smallholdings, schools, businesses, organisations and networks. We use a variety of learning approaches including small group work, discussions, videos, practicals, observations, walks, talks and presentations, games, design activities and personal reflection time. Previous students have appreciated the variety of activities and depth of learning, and the sense of support and community that is created between students and tutors. During the course students will participate in a group design exercise, usually based on a real life local project, and will also develop a personal design project. If you aren't sure which project to focus on we can help you to develop one. The design project work helps to deepen your permaculture skills and understanding. We will be visiting different sites, including a day with Leeds Coppice Workers learning about woodland management and trees, a trip to Bedford Fields Forest Garden, a walk around homes and projects in Chapeltown, and trips to projects in Bradford and Keighley. Whilst Hollybush Conservation Centre is wheelchair accessible, not all of the visits are, so let us know in advance if you have any access or other special requirements and we will be happy to discuss your needs and work to find a suitable solution. Indeed, if you have any questions about the course, please do get in touch. Our team of Joe, Laura, Helen, Andy and Luke are looking forward to starting you on your permaculture journey!
