Online only: pre-recorded course materials are released every 2 weeks March - October. Zoom Q&As one Wednesday evening per month.

Glasgow in-person classes & Walks: one Friday or Saturday per month - students sign up to either all Fridays or all Saturdays.

Edinburgh in-person walks: March & October: one Saturday per month: 1.30-3.30pm. April, May, July, August & September: one Thursday per month: 6.30-8.30pm
Cost
We offer the course on a sliding scale with lifetime access to all pre-recorded online materials
Online only: £375-£700
Edinburgh walks: additional £100 added to online cost
Glasgow in-person: £475-£850
Each year we offer 2 additional subsidised spaces in each category
Course summary

Join us for an 8 month exploration of wild food and medicine. Our experienced tutors have been offering this course since 2016, with many of our students going on to work in outdoor education, urban farming, community gardening and moving in to further study as community or medical herbalists.

Course Outcomes

  • Develop an understanding of the ethics and practice of ecological harvesting and gain confidence in ​low impact foraging
  • Try out recipes and ​ learn practical remedy making​ skills for home use
  • Learn about the edible and ​ medicinal properties of some of our common British plants​ & when to harvest them
  • Develop a ​sensory approach to herbal medicine
  • Beginners botany & ecology​ & the ability to confidently identify common species
  • Gain an understanding of how to live more harmoniously with the season
