Course summary

In this course we will visit different communities and use permaculture design to understand and analyse what works well and what are the challenges, as well as drawing lessons from our experience to develop best practice for building sustainable communities.
We will draw on your experience of and aspirations for community living. We will visit different community organisations to get a feel for different ways of living in community and how it works best. We offer different windows through which to see and analyse communities as well as key tools to build new and support existing communities. We will apply permaculture design tools to the physical, social and organisational environments of community living and give you the opportunity to develop a personal action plan for yourself.

The course will cover:
* how to apply permaculture design to community living
* applying nature’s principles and patterns to communities
* exploring your biography and finding your motivation and key questions for community living
* visits to different local communities with a focus on home life, education, sustainability and food growing
* bioregionalism and the Transition movement.
