Course summary

In addition to the standard PDC curriculum you will benefit from our five years' experience of implementing permaculture designs in Palestine, that empower families and communities to access vital natural resources in a hot dry climate and in the face of military obstruction and persecution.

For the second time Bustan Qaraaqa will over three weeks let you explore the permaculture design methodology and its application and potential to provide effective immediate relief and longterm socialand environmental regeneration. Living on the Bustan Qaraaqa Permaculture Farm, Bethlehem, students will gain hands-on experience of system design, implementation and maintenance. Students will also have the opportunity to see permaculture learn about permaculture in action throughout the diverse communities of the West Bank Bustan Qaraaqa has experience with. One of the teachers has long experience with local farmers, in the refugee camps and amongst the Bedouin tribes, with promoting and implementing permaculture solutions for access to water, food production, energy generation as well as strengthening communities and protecting the environment, and he will use that knowledge when teaching the course.

The three week course will also include tours, hikes and travels so you discover and experience the nature and wild life of the West Bank. You will get a guided tour into the mountains and nature of different areas of the West Bank to see thousands of old water cisterns and systems, rare plant s and animal life and to get more understanding of the climate and nature. These tours may involve outside sleeping, and are optional for all participants and inclusive in the price of the course.
