Looby Macnamara is author of several books including Cultural Emergence. This in-person Cultural Emergence weekend course invites you to take the opportunity in following this natural rhythm of regeneration and turning your focus inwards. Give yourself the time to reflect, to compost what no longer serves you and to renew your energies and perspectives. During this course people will come together to ask the following questions:

How can we facilitate cultural change?
What do we want the new culture and new story to look like?
What part can we play in helping it to emerge?

Summary:

Permaculture is about working with nature, based on deep observation and understanding of the principles which underpin natural systems. Childhood is the ideal time to get to know nature, and how nature works, through play and experimentation.
This course for school & nursery teachers, forest school leaders, nature kindergarten teachers, parents and other educators to learn how to engage children in all aspects of permaculture, learning from nature with a child-led approach.

REGISTER HERE:
https://forms.gle/C6Ukh47448Dmm6kD6

We will:
*Find out how permaculture ethics and principles can be applied to education, in how we speak, the activities we engage in and in the spaces we design.
*Discover some great benefits of outdoor learning, including relevant research, and learn how to create session plans which engage the whole child: eyes, heart, hands and head, through active participation in a session learning about soil.
*Look at different garden designs both in school and home gardens and get involved in a practical activity such as testing soil.
* Learn about the different activities that we can do with children and, more importantly, think about how the way we approach the child can enable us to think of infinite possible activities.

Evening Permaculture Principles walk around the Abbey Physic Community Garden
A wonderful opportunity to send time in the beautiful community garden exploring Nature's Wisdom through permaculture principles.
For example 'Edge'. I don't think I have ever been in a garden with so much edge with people and Land. There are at least 20 small gardens (I have not counted yet) each bordering on each other. These edges are very interesting to the permaculture eye having the benefits of each garden. There is a sculptural dead hedge on the edge of the new moon garden which creates a beautiful habitat for all sorts of creates as well as a backdrop with moon windows in and out of the adjacent spaces. Of course it was made with waste products from the garden. Waste is an unused resource, another principle. This place is dripping in Permaculture Principles.

This will be a mini introduction to Permaculture for those new to it and a refresher for those already interested. We will include a forage and learn about different techniques.
When: Two Wednesday evenings July 7th and 14th 6.30 to 8pm.
Each week we will deep dive with two permaulture principles exploring Natural Wisdom. We will cover many more.

If for any reason we cannot do this live we will do it online.

Summary:

The BSc in Regenerative Food and Farming gives you the opportunity to explore leading-edge alternatives to mainstream agricultural practices and food systems. Students will do this through a programme of integrated experiential learning, study alongside expert faculty and practitioners, meaningful work placement, and guided independent projects.

During your time in Schumacher College’s BSc in Regenerative Food and Farming, you will live and learn in a residential community environment on the stunning 1,200-acre Dartington Estate, which has been devoted to exploring sustainable agricultural practices since its establishment in 1925. In 2012, we renewed this focus with a manifesto to develop the estate land as an exemplar of agroecological practice. Most recently, in 2020, Dartington Trust focused its mission on being a centre for regenerative living and learning which fully integrates ecology, social justice, and the arts in an educational context.

Dartington, Totnes and South Devon have a vibrant ethical, local food culture supported by the world-renowned Transition Town Totnes. This setting offers a unique and exciting place from which to explore the future of sustainable and regenerative food and farming.
