Those Plant People LAND Centre Open Day
Friday 2 September from 10am - 4pm

Image removed.

Come along to our LAND centre for a look around, see a few permaculture gardening demos and just to have a wander about and a chat. We have polycultures in our yard, patches of forest garden, nice places to sit and drink tea and a plant nursery. We are around 15 min drive from Nell Bank, it’s easy to get to us by public transport and it would be great for those coming along to arrange to share transport to the convergence. Feel free to bring a picnic.

Hyde Park Source: Permaculture for all?

Hyde Park Source (HPS) works with various communities across Leeds, we use principles and tools inspired by Permaculture to help us design projects. In this workshop we want to explore how people use Permaculture Design with different groups. We will share some of our designs and talk about how we use our design process in a fluid and spontaneous way to match the groups we work with. We will be creating a 'design web' during the workshop and updating our own process as we go along. We will try out some of our design tools on the group to help us find out who has come along and why!

HPS improves peoples health and well being thorough improving the environment.

Making biochar

What is Biochar? Uses in promoting soil fertility and crop quality as well as sequestering carbon; using material that would otherwise be wasted as the feedstock; different kiln designs; local networking to share skills and resources, without having to do everything yourself; where next for biochar?

There will be a practical workshop on Saturday, as a follow on from this session.

This workshop will provide information on the Next Big Step discussions about permaculture education at International Permaculture Convergence UK (IPCUK), 2015 and proposals for the International Permaculture Education Network. What are the needs and gaps in permaculture education, in the UK and globally? How do we address these and increase the effectiveness of permaculture education in creating change?
