Website

The website is a key part of our work, and allows us to support thousands of people at very low cost.

Phase one, that you are looking at now, is in beta until December 2009. Beta means that everything is working and available to test. If you have any comments about the way the website works, or spot anything that is wrong, we would be very grateful if you could spare the time to let us know. We will use the feedback from the beta test period to refine the way the site works and to help update information.

Once that is complete, we look forward to doing phase two of the drupal content management system development work!  If you have web skills and want to get involved in helping develop the website further please do contact us.

Website hosting

Our website is hosted on servers that are 100% powered by windmills!

The service is provided by Ecohost which is a workers co-op dedicated to providing ethical web hosting with as little environmental impact as possible. They aim to provide ecologically low-impact secure website hosting based on Open Source server platforms. They provide hosting on servers that are 100% powered by windmills, with bio-diesel generators as emergency backup, based in the UK, in a former military bunker located in Lincolnshire. The set up is very efficient due the the use of efficient servers as well as the naturally cool environment which means that the bunker's cooling systems operate much more efficiently than in a traditional datacentre.

We are very happy to be hosting our website with Ecohost as it supports our ethics so well.
