Gabrielle Buist

About me

Gabrielle Haworth Buist, BSc First Class Honours in Sociology with Environmental Studies University of Surrey, was born and raised in Findhorn, North East Scotland. Returning over ten years ago and currently Manager of the Findhorn International Centre for Sustainability & the Building Bridges department in the Findhorn Foundation, creating avenues for a multitude of groups to benefit from the Findhorn Ecovillage Community. She also sits on the Steward Circle of the Findhorn Foundation, which is similar to a Management or Strategic development team. She is a lifelong student of Permaculture and has embarked on her Applied Permaculture Diploma with the British Permaculture Association.

Inspired by her voluntary work in Ladakh, India she coordinated a student political group, People & Planet while completing her University degree in London 2001-4. She then became Partnership Manager for OneWorld UK, an international charity based in London. She returned to Findhorn in 2007 to coordinate the intensive month-long Ecovillage Training programmes where she also completed her Permaculture Design Certificate. Since her return she has worked alongside local government and Action for Children to run long term programmes for Youth Empowerment for local young people and Care Farming for local adults with learning disabilities.
