An opportunity for a permaculture designer, which may be of interest to Diploma Apprentices.

Pop up tomorrow

We know the time of ‘business as usual’ is over, that we must transform the present in order to create a sustainable future.

If we are to make the changes the climate emergency demands of us, the next 10-15 years will be a time of social, cultural, economic and political transformation almost without precedent. It will be a time when our imagination needs to be invited, valued and empowered. A time that future generations will sing great songs, and tell great tales about. A challenging yet amazing time to be alive!

5 Element Garden

For many years ( since training as Shiatsu practitioner, I’ve been meaning to set up a garden area conforming to the traditional Chinese medicine principles of the 5 elements. I have a design I think will work well but wondered if anyone has already done this? All input and suggestions welcome and experiences very useful!
Many thanks

Permaculture, Chronic Illness and Disability

Hi Permaculture folk, I'm currently working on a design relating to, how access to permaculture knowledge, demonstration sites and events, can be improved for people with a chronic illness and/or disability. I would be really grateful if you could spend a few minutes responding to all or some of these questions.

1) Do you identify as having a chronic illness and/or disability?

Critiques and analysis of industrial and municipal composting methods

I was wondering if anyone can direct me towards or offer me any good permaculture/agro-ecology critiques of the industrial composting methods often used by local authorities. I'm thinking specifically of the in-vessel composting and the open windrow composting methods.

Is soil quality and valuable organisms lost in these processes? And do we just end up with dead soil that is useless after a few months or one season - there's never visible worms, insects or fungi in bags of commercial compost for example?

Land available to develop as permaculture smallholding

I've been gardening organically for 30 years on an allotment in East Lancashire (which is part of a 12 acres of allotment land). I've embraced permaculture in recent years.

I have a patch of land which is approximately 1/4 of an acre available to develop as a permaculture smallholding and I'm looking for keen, enthusiastic, energetic permaculture gardeners to develop it.

Please spread the word and contact me by email if you're interested.

Permaculture designer for Turners' Field co-housing, Somerset

A Permaculture design is needed for a planning application for Turners’ Field near Glastonbury.

The plan is for a modest-sized eco-co-housing application, specially manageable by elders, but not exclusively, with teaching space, a wildlife trail, super-easy veg growing gardens, economic activity, poultry keeping, interface with the village commmunity, common ownership, etc.

Develop branding for #WeLoveLiving campaign

We aim to convince thousands of people to make a myriad of small alterations to their lifestyles that add up to a big change. We can do this together by creating shared simple, fun, and low cost resources.

The permaculture community has a huge range of skills that could provide much better shared resources. We are hoping to work together to develop blogs, webpages, and articles for local media plus demonstrations, talks, workshops, and day courses.

The emphasis in all these should be on fun, simplicity, and low cost.
