National Teachers Meeting

Summary information

In March 2010 we held the first of a series of national teachers' meeting planned for the next 3 years. Over 30 permaculture teachers from around the UK gathered at the the Sustainability Centre to discuss various aspects of permaculture education and take the first steps in forming the Association's future education strategy. A core steering group and several working groups were established with the following themes:
Quality Development – looking at how to deliver comparable quality to all learners while playing to individual teachers' strengths; include capacity building in the areas of teacher qualifications and course accreditation
Core Curriculum – aiming to define a recommended set of core learning outcomes for courses at various levels
Marketing – working to engage groups outside of the usual permaculture community
Schools – exploring opportunities to partner with schools, colleges and universities
Web – looking at using the Permaculture Association's website more strategically.
