Sustainable Living Camp

Summary information

Two rewarding days camping together at a beautiful 12.7 acre Norwich homestead, sharing food and meeting like-minded people learning practical skills in food growing and eco-fitting. The aim is building skills which participants can immediately apply to their own homes and gardens.

Workshops:
1. HOME INSULATION: Assessing your home thermal insulation requirements. Cost-benefit calculations. Choosing what to do. Types of loft insulation. Fitting interior wall insulation.
2. FOOD GROWING: Key elements include: Design, How to integrate a polytunnel or greenhouse. Preparing land. Choosing seasonal vegetables and herbs. Planting
3. SPECIALIST DESIGN: We’ll be offering ONE of the following two options according to tutor availability (tbc): a) creating a wet-polytunnel system which dramatically reduces watering needs, and b) building a solar thermal panel: Solar thermal tubes are expensive and have a fixed life-expectancy. If we go for this option We’ll be aiming to design and build one which can last for decades, is serviceable and relatively cheap!
