Course summary

Permaculture design is all about creating ecologically sound ways of living based on observing natural systems and applying ecological principles to what we do. It equips you to care for the earth, yourself, and others in ways that are resilient, abundant, and rewarding - and it can be a truly life-changing and empowering approach to learn.
The basic qualification for doing permaculture design is a Permaculture Design Certificate. This course offers you the opportunity to gain your PDC over a period of several months, plus a minimum of 16 hours guided home study, to cover the full PDC curriculum. The certificate follows the Permaculture Association's approved curriculum, which is recognised by other permaculture practitioners internationally.
The essential pre-requisites during 2021, due to Covid restrictions, are participation in two online courses - Introduction to Permaculture & The Living Soil. Following this, there will be two long weekends in the autumn when our group will come together in person at two inspirational sites in West Wales. The first, Blaeneinion, is an inspiring conservation & permaculture project set in 75 acres of land at the head of Artists Valley, near Machynlleth. The second, the Centre for Alternative Technology, is a world renowned learning & demonstration centre for ecological ways of living,
Your tutors, Dr Angie Polkey and Dr Alice Gray, have between them many decades of experience in using permaculture thinking and applying it in practice, both in the UK and abroad, They are established teachers with a wide range of experience in teaching diverse groups of adults in accessible and dynamic ways.
