Course summary

The Permaculture Design Clinic is a one day workshop designed to take a group of people collectively through a Permaculture Design process. Experienced and inexperienced designers are welcomed to join and support each other in this creative open space. Some structure and input on the Permaculture Design methodology, the ethics, the principles, and some of the tools will be given. Lots of materials for drawing, sketching and creating, measuring, soil sampling etc will be provided as well. Participants are encouraged to bring laptop and books which might be relevant to do their own research on the day; although this is not at all required. It will be a great opportunity for participants to learn from each other and from the process and let the collective energy and knowledge do its magic.

We will use the SADIM design methodology (Survey, Analyse, Design, Implement, Maintain) to create a design for a concrete community space, in this case Hillside Passage in Streatham Hill. The design is likely to be implemented and participants are welcomed to join in with the implementation on a later date as well.

Participants of the workshop will get:

– a practical Permaculture Design experience on a concrete piece of land,

– a deeper and practical understanding of the main tools and principles of Permaculture Design,

– an opportunity to share skills and knowledge with other designers and meet other permaculturalists,

– an opportunity to work in a group and develop social and collaborative design skills,

– an experience of an Open Space event.

The workshop is offered on a sliding scale (£15 – 45), which will go into material cost, organisation and the funds to support the Hillside Passage community project to happen.

Number of participants is limited, so please register early.
