Course summary

Following the successful conversion of our current courses to an online format, The Northern School of Permaculture is happy to announce that our next Permaculture Design Certificate course will start in July 2020.

The course will be led by Angus Soutar who has nearly 30 years experience in teaching the course and is accredited by the Permaculture Research Institute. Angus is supported by an experienced team to ensure a that we can maintain the classroom experience during remote working.

Running on Saturday afternoons each month, between 2 and 5pm, and offering extensive support between sessions, this course provides full access to all the tools you need to become a confident permaculture designer. The course content has a wide and flexible application, not only for home and garden design, but also for those wishing to apply the design techniques within their business or career.

Adapted from a traditional classroom setting, this PDC has been designed to recreate this experience as closely as possible. A team of skilled presenters and teachers have been assembled to guide you. This online learning environment is unique to the Northern School because time has been planned in for you to absorb and practice the methods and skills you will study. Group work is combined with individual one-on-one support across a variety of channels, enabling you to communicate and participate in the way that is best for you.

If you're not sure if this course is for you, the Introduction to Permaculture Design course is running this September and provides a good overview of the principles and practices of permaculture. It will give you a good idea of what to expect from the Design Certificate programme.
