Explore this beautiful, soft, aromatic material by making a Little Rush Bag.
A two- day workshop making a Little Rush Bag to take home. The bag will have two round plaited handles and the base and border will have a ‘core’ edge, to add resilience. Suitable for beginners as well as those with experience as the tutor will adjust the style of weave accordingly.
All the rush (Bulrush, Scriptus Lacustris) used in this workshop is harvested by hand as a co-operative effort from the river Ilse in Somerset. It has not been treated with any chemicals- a truly sustainable material.
Rush is a wonderful, rewarding material to weave with as it is softer and much gentler on the hands than willow. Ideal for anyone suffering with Arthritis or other hand issues.
All tools and materials provided. This workshop will take place outdoors with social distancing and hygiene measures in place. There will be a small number of participants split between two undercover areas. Please come prepared to work outdoors with warm clothing etc. Please also bring all of your own drinks, food and cups etc. There will be access to a compost toilet with plenty of hand sanitiser available. Places are limited to six participants per event and must be booked in advance.
