Course summary Based at the world-renowned Centre for Alternative Technology, near Machynlleth, west Wales: www.cat.org.uk/ CAT is the UK’s longest running sustainability centre, including the award winning Wales Institute for Sustainability Education. The CAT site, which is only available to groups, demonstrates & teaches ecological ways of living, from food growing to renewables to building design and more. It is home to Zero Carbon Britain, which trains councils, communities and others to act on the climate and ecological emergency, backed up by sound research, guidance and demonstration models. Your teachers, Angie Polkey & Alice Gray, have decades of experience in applying permaculture thinking & practice in some very wide-ranging fields of activity in the UK, Palestine, Kashmir, Uganda & (remotely) with displaced people in Kenya. We both live in Wales – Angie is a founder member of Lampeter Permaculture Group & Lampeter Resilience Hub and Alice is a founder member of Tyddyn Teg farm co-op. We are long established teachers with experience of engaging diverse groups of adults in accessible and dynamic ways. We both practice permaculture- informed activism in our own spheres of influence (more on that during the course!) and encourage others to do the same.
