Course summary

In this day long workshop you will get to grips with traditional leathercraft skills to make a unique leather belt pouch to take away. Using techniques including stitching, engraving, painting and staining, you will be guided through the use of specialist leather-working tools.

This beginners practical course teaches students how to use skills which can be applied to making a wide range of leather goods using only hand techniques. Students are encouraged to develop their own individual styles and are helped to experiment and explore the creative potential of leather. The leather has been veg tanned which means it has been treated with vegetable matter such as bark or plant fibres as opposed to chemicals.

Students are welcome to bring their own simple pattern or design to engrave onto the pouch. It should be ready to be traced, with a maximum stencil size of 4″x4″. Otherwise a range of stencils will be available on the day to choose from.
