Course summary

In this half day group workshop we will be providing an introduction to building basic 12v pedal-powered generators, and exploring how they can be used.

Together we will build generators that can turn human power into electricity with the addition of a regular bicycle, using simple materials and a range of hand tools. We will then set up the system and test it on a range of appliances, lighting bulbs and running a small projector using nothing but the energy provided by a couple of active human beings.

If you are interested in learning about renewable energy systems, this workshop will allow you to get hands-on access to bike generation technology. As with all our DIY energy workshops, you will learn what energy is and what it can do, and gain an understanding of the electrical basics: current, voltage, resistance, power, and series and parallel circuits.

The workshop will take place at the DEE studio in Ladywell, and will start at 11am, and finish around 3.30pm.

- All materials are included.
- No previous experience required.
