Course summary

March 28th 9.30 – 5.00 in Streatham Hill, London

This one-day workshop is designed for individuals working or aspiring to work in service to social and environmental change on an individual and collective level. Using a creative and experiential approach, we will explore what it means to be living in the present time of uncertainty and transition, and how reconnecting to ourselves, others and to the natural world can vitalise us to be powerful agents for change. We will embark on a collective enquiry into the new emerging story for the future of life on Earth and how we can find our unique place within it.

We will draw on the practices of lifetime activist and Buddhist scholar Joanna Macy’s ‘Work that Reconnects’ and harvest the strength and empowerment from journeying together through our feelings of gratitude as well as despair for the world. Through using a diverse mix of tools and learning exercises, we engage participants in a holistic way, and aim to leave the group inspired and empowered with tangible and practical resources for change.

This workshop is inspired by the pioneering Gaia Education’s Ecovillage Design Education. Here, we are exploring in depth the ‘Worldview’ dimension of the design for sustainability programme.
