Course summary

The course is beginners' plus in that no prior knowledge of seed saving is necessary. The course will cover some basic horticultural info and botany so that people can build on that knowledge in relation to seed saving. For people who already have some strong horticultural and botany knowledge there will be space for people to share their knowledge, ask questions and deepen their knowledge. The main focus will be on readily accessible seeds which are suitable for the local area.
Charlie Gray has been saving seed at Horton Community Farm in Bradford for nearly a decade. She is also Northern Regional coordinator for Gaia Foundation's Seed Sovereignty programme.
At Warland Farm we are a community and aim to share our knowledge, skills, experience, and aim to be as inclusive as possible. The main teaching will be both theory and practical and will take place in an open barn so please be prepared for the weather. The barn is fully accessible but other areas of the site are still in development and on a steep valley side so please contact us if you have concerns regarding access or any other needs. A warm lunch will be provided and tea and coffee will be available.
Requirements: ideally people need to do some growing and be interested in saving seed for future use and sharing.
The course will be limited to 12 places and we are willing to take knowledge, labour or seeds / plants in exchange for the fee.
