Summary:

This intensive course is suitable for all abilities: both apprentice and experienced teachers and also for those who have just completed their PDC. During the course we will be focusing on the tools and techniques for teaching and facilitating permaculture learning and the practicalities of convening and running courses.

The course will be lively and interactive on all levels using plenty of diversity in teaching styles. We will be looking at the whole process of running a course – from finding a venue and course publicity to evaluation and follow up, as well as how to plan a session, then teach it creatively and inspirationally.

Topics covered:
Teaching methods ~ Preparing training sessions ~Training tools ~ Flowing feedback skills ~ Games & energisers ~ Facilitation skills ~ Course culture ~ Presentation skills ~ Micro-session preparation ~ Convening courses ~ Course design ~ Learning methods

The course aim is to empower people to realise their own skills as facilitators and we will be using methods for building the confidence of the participants throughout, including each participant having many chances to put into practice what they have learned. The aim is to support participants on their teaching career beyond the course – in Permaculture and other subjects. Depending on their existing experience and knowledge, course graduates will have the skills to apprentice teach on a PDC or specialist course, or to convene and lead an Introduction to Permaculture course.

This course is hosted at Casalinho, a family run permaculture project in central Portugal.

Summary:

This dynamic and interactive course offers comprehensive and powerful teaching methodology distilled from Robina’s 25 years of teaching experience in 10 different countries in Permaculture and Community Development. She was one of Doug Crouch’s mentors early in his journey and the two are excited to reunite and continue to work together, this time in sunny Portugal instead of Oregon or the South Island of New Zealand. Doug’s input is based off of his six years of full time teaching along with project development over the last 15 years in 11 different countries.

Furthermore, this course is for Permaculture design course graduates who want to develop their skills as holistic educators and take steps towards leading courses internationally. The techniques learned enrich oneself to become an empowered, dynamic, and effective educator. This translates to any teaching field whether it be PDC’s or short courses on the myriad of topics that encompass Permaculture. Furthermore it is relevant to both experienced and aspiring teachers as we wish to mentor you just as Robina did for Doug.
