This is for anyone interested in gaining the skills and perspectives for sustainable living and the transition towards a more sane society. The course is suitable for busy people - the format is one Saturday a month over 12 months. We have also designed it to keep costs at a minimum, yet keeping comfortable and relaxed.

The course is based around creative thinking and learning from natural systems. If you study with us, you will build your knowledge and gain a thorough grounding in the skill of Permaculture Design. Rosemary's approach to teaching permaculture is to involve participants in a collaborative and practical apprenticeship and she is recognised as an effective permaculture teacher.

The course will include study sessions, discussion in small and whole group, visits and demonstrations and practical workshops.

Design work on several exciting projects in the local area, and based at the lovely Canalside CSA site during the course. By actively engaging in a real design you have participated in creating you will be able to embody skills and understanding much more deeply, as well as enjoy living simply together on the land and exploring various aspects of community living.

This two week course on the beautiful North Down coast is suitable for anyone working to improve their community, whether through the design of the environment, creating food, energy or transport
solutions, policy and decision making or community organising, and will include close studies of ecology, geography, horticulture and green technologies, with examples of natural high production. Our hosts at Glencraig, Holywood are currently installing an ambitious biomass
boiler and district heating system, and are keen to share their experience and knowledge.

Our teaching methods are enabling, so people learn and remember by experience and information sharing. There will be times of relaxation and recreational fun; the course promises to be a great working summer holiday.
