Introduction to Permaculture

Hazelhurst CSA is hosting an introduction to permaculture facilitated by Joe Atkinson (Learning coordinator at the Permaculture Association).
The courses will be taught on the Hazelhurst CSA land, which is a 9 acre field.
By the end of the weekend, participants should have an answer to the question 'What is Permaculture?' have gained an overview of the ethics and principles of Permaculture, and be able to begin to apply design techniques to the CSA land and other projects in their environment. Participants will also know where to find further information.

Hazelhurst CSA is a new project to grow food in Sheffield.
Other members of the CSA will be coming out to camp on Saturday 17th July. This will be a fun night with a big camp fire and music, singing and performance. So practice your party piece.

Permaculture holiday in Spain

The Mensajero Foundation offers a course on permaculture, or sustainable agriculture, for those with little or no experience on the subject. The course is based upon the work of Patrick Whitefield.

It is a practical, hands-on course where you will learn the basic principles of permaculture by visiting farms and country homes where they work with these methods and carry out projects inspired by these disciplines.

There also will be the opportunity to take part in other complementary activities such as experiencing relaxation techniques, making traditional cheeses, Mediterranean cooking, visiting local villages, Chi kung, Latin dance, and more!

Cecil Sharp House, London Permaculture and Spiralseed. It will cover Permaculture ethics and
principles, introduce design tools and methods and include participants
being set practical tasks and design exercises.
Permaculture is about our relationship with our shared environment, about what nature can teach us and how best to apply what we learn. These ethics and principles can be applied in urban or rural settings.

This one day workshop serves as an introductory session to the 72 hour design course which begins on 28 August and runs for one weekend a month through to January 2012 (last weekend of each month except December) We ask all students to undertake the Introduction day to ensure this is the right course for them and those that do will get preference for booking on the full course.
