Summary:

This course will give you a basic but wide ranging introduction to permaculture as an approach to designing more sustainable ways of living and working on the Earth. It will give you a good grounding in the core elements of a permaculture approach including the ethical framework or values that underpin it, the principles from nature that it draws on, and a design framework for applying them. In the course you will be encouraged to explore and consider the issues that matter to you in your life and work, as well as offered plenty of practical examples of permaculture in action in a wide range of contexts. The course also includes a visit to an inspirational permaculture site, where an experienced designer will show you what they have done and how it all works in practice, as well as a design exercise during which you will work in groups to develop a permaculture design for a designated area (e.g. piece of land or a building). You now also have the opportunity to study for the full Permaculture Design Certificate, with this being the first module in a group of 3. Feedback from a recent course: "I absolutely loved the course last weekend. I loved your style of teaching and the fun we had, yet we still managed to learn so much. Your passion for permaculture inspired me and I left buzzing and I'm still feeling very excited at learning more. I know I will look back in the future and remember your course as a turning point in the way I live my life."

Summary:

Be your inner gardener - an introduction to social permaculture. With Lulu Mederer and Helena von Bothmer.

This introduction to social permaculture gives you the opportunity to grow what you want to be and the change you want to see in the world around you. Learn how to use and play with the design web and to apply the ethics and principles of permaculture to your inner landscape.

By using the ethics and principles of permaculture and by specifically working with the Design Web from the book People & Permaculture we will guide you through this design weekend. Through a lot of playfulness, nature connection and group work you will learn to be able to do your own designing. When leaving you will have gained knowledge of the basics of permaculture and take tools with you that give you energy and inspiration to keep seeking resilience, finding joy and meaningfulness.

About Lulu
Lulu is an academic trained in literature, mythology and depth psychology. To balance this work she started gardening and learning about permaculture since 2012. In her courses she likes to offer guidance to those who are interested to deepen their connection with themselves, other people and nature.

Summary:

Our introduction course goes beyond the garden and offers the opportunity to share knowledge on social permaculture and its benefits. This gives you an holistic experience showing how the basic theory and the practical application of permaculture can be used in your personal life, at home, in your community and for wellbeing. This three day course uses our valuable experiences of living off grid and interaction with nature to help inspire you into reframing your approach into how you live and work.

Permaculture is a natural design science mimicking the patterns of nature. It can be used to help build regenerative and resilient landscapes and communities. It is a solutions based, systems thinking design process. The aim is to bring together a set of specific elements which, when designed in the right way, can help create sustainable economic and ecological, resilient & regenerative systems. Day 3 will introduce to you, techniques we have used towards our own psychological resilience.

This 3 day intensive will introduce you to the basic ethics and principles of permaculture, introducing you to a variety of innovative tools and methods for use in the home, garden and your areas of social interaction. We will look briefly at why systems thinking is a key component in permaculture thinking and designing. Our courses are interactive and fun. We use a variety of game based and outdoor sessions to deliver our learning.

No knowledge of permaculture is necessary in order to attend this course. We welcome those aged 10 to 100. Children must be accompanied by a responsible, caring adult.

Cost includes food and residential (camping only )
