72 hour course in permaculture design.
Suryalila is a beautiful old renovated olive farm consisting of eight houses that form the cortijo, on 45 acres of land and is still a working olive farm with 350 olive trees.
Suryalila is nestled serenely in a large open valley in the foothills of the Sierra de Grazelema. This majestic mountain range can be seen looming large on the horizon behind Suryalila. A striking part of the natural beauty of the property is the breathtaking vista of rolling hills, fields of sunflowers, and lakes.
Roupell Park Estate has a very diverse community with around 62% of tenants being from black and minority ethnic communities. The management of the estate are committed to investing in the green infrastructure on the state and improving the lives of the residents. Next to the Roupell Park Community Centre at Hyperion House on the estate, Social Landscapes has engaged residents to regenerate a neglected green space.
The course is based primarily at the Montessori Arts School, Liberton Brae, in south Edinburgh. The indoor learning space is large and bright, and because of the school’s location on the edge of the city, there’s good access to natural spaces. There will be visits to external sites in and around Edinburgh during the course, and Module 5 will be spent entirely off site, visiting established permaculture locations.
