Design of an allotment and other growing spaces at a community growing project, located in the wider context of life in the Upper Calder Valley in West Yorkshire. From 2016 until 2020 I was the only onsite human resident at Redacre Community Growing Project, where I also held an allotment plot and maintained several other growing spaces, aboard my narrowboat Innisfree on the Rochdale Canal in Mytholmroyd, West Yorkshire. The design covers strategies for soil improvement, integration of boat inputs and outputs with resource flows across the wider site, and the setting within the wider context of the Upper Calder Valley between Mytholmroyd and Hebden Bridge, a human scale area that provided all my everyday material and social needs and which I left as rarely as possible.
