Register for the Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design

You must be a member of the Permaculture Association to register - join or renew here.

You also need to have completed a Permaculture Design Certificate (PDC) before you embark upon this diploma. If you've yet to do this, have a look at the courses listing to find a PDC.

When you register for the Diploma you confirm that it is your intention to prepare for accreditation for the Diploma by engaging in self-directed study.

You may submit your design portfolio for accreditation two or more years after you complete your PDC.

Payment options for the Diploma:
Credit or debit card: Payment in full, or spread the payments by instalments.

Bank transfer or cheque: Payment in full only.

Standing Order: Spread the payments by setting up a standing order. If you want to use this payment method, select the "Pay in Full for my Diploma" option and choose  "
I will send payment by bank transfer, cheque, or standing order". If paying by standing order, please ensure you contact your bank to arrange the payments.

If you choose one of the monthly credit or debit card options, please remember to confirm the number of payments you plan to make.
If you're paying by standing order please remember to set this up with your bank.

Your recurring contribution will be processed automatically. You can specify the number of installments, or you can leave the number of installments blank if you want to make an open-ended commitment. In either case, you can choose to cancel at any time. You will receive an email receipt for each recurring contribution.
Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design - registration details
Please confirm which route you are choosing for your Diploma in Applied Permaculture Design.
You need to have completed your a PDC before you register on the Diploma. Please give the details of your PDC here. We may ask you to provide evidence, for example your PDC certificate.
For Supported Route and Supported Route plus, please give the name of your personal tutor. You can find a list of tutors at
Have you contacted your tutor to confirm they will be able to accept you as an apprentice at this time? It's a good idea to do this.
Please confirm that you are a member of the Permaculture Association and will continue to hold current membership for the duration of your Diploma studies

Supported Route

Your personal tutor will be an important part of your Diploma experience. They will deliver all of these sessions:

  • Induction event
  • Personal tutorials
  • Interim Portfolio Assessment
  • 1st Final Portfolio Assessment

If you have chosen the Supported Route Plus, you will benefit from additional design support tutorials.

Please ensure you have contacted your chosen tutor to check they have capacity and have agreed to be your tutor.

Independent Route
The following are included in the fees for the Independent Route:

  • Interim Portfolio Assessment
  • Final Portfolio Assessment Stage 1
  • Final Portfolio Assessment Stage 2
  • Presiding Diplomate fee
    (An additional fee of £60 will be payable if your Presiding Diplomate is not one of your Assessment tutors)

You may need to book your Portfolio Assesment Tutorials 6 months in advance.

A note about the location of tutorials.
Tutors normally have a regular venue where they hold tutorials. Please be aware that if tutorials are held elsewhere by your request, you may be asked to cover the cost of travel and additional time. Please clarify this when you arrange your tutorials.
