The Transition Towns network has spread rapidly with hundreds of initiatives now working around the world. There is a close connection to permaculture, with Rob Hopkins being an active permaculture teacher. Indeed the idea came from his work teaching a two year permaculture course at Kinsale in Ireland.
Many Transition initiatives are supported or were led early on by permaculture practitioners, with the Transition Network suggesting that having a permaculture trained person on the team is important.
The Association is keen to support the network of transition towns, and can suggest speakers, projects to visit, and so forth (see services for more details).
