I am currently doing a voluntary internship at the Permaculture Association as part of my degree in Environmental Sustainability at the University of Leeds.
My main role involves assisting with the coordination of a new farming project that is in the early stages of development. As a former WWOOFer, and having seen some of the challenges farmers and smallholders are facing, the issues surrounding sustainable food production and consumption are very important to me. As such, I am very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of an initiative aimed at making agriculture more sustainable - for people and the planet.
My role also includes assisting with the running of two research trials here at the Association, as well as some general office support. The former involves many varied activities, including being the main point of contact for participants, collating qualitative and quantitative data, maintaining office records and liasing with the working groups on project progress. You can find out more about the research work the Association is involved in by visiting the pages below.
If you are a farmer, smallholder or just interested in knowing more about the farming project we are developing, please feel free to contact me: http://permaculture.org.uk/contact
