I am currently doing a permaculture design course in Clitheroe Lancashire. I purchases 2.9 acres of land last October primarily for my two rescure horses. My objective is to manage the land and horses in a sustainable and natural way. It has been a steep learning curve! I have visited a number of permaculture sites over the summer Chris and Lyn Dixon in Wales, Ripon and Middlewood, i have been inspired by them all and now have the start of a design for my area. The perimiter of the field is all natural hedging and i intend to build on this, at the top of the land is a public footpath which i have screened off with a banking there is also a pond in this area. The long term plan is a fruit forest garden, combined with plants that are either ediable medicinal to horse and human or friendly to birds bees and butterflys.
