Membership

By joining the Association and becoming a member, you are supporting the spread of permaculture in Britain and around the world. We are here to help you get in touch with like minded people, find out about learning opportunities, and get your projects off the ground. Members have a wealth of experience and are generally very keen to share their knowledge and skills.

We welcome all new members to get involved in the organisation's work, either locally or nationally.

Membership work
If you are already a member of the Association, then you might like to know how you can get involved and make the most of your membership.

  • Meeting other members – ask us for a list of people in your area. If there is no local group or project, why not organise a social event, work day or film screening to get people together and discuss your interest in permaculture.
  • Make use of the helpline and give us a call.  Are you stuck with a project large or small? Give us a ring and see if we can help
  • Join a working group – International,  Research, Convergence 2010 team
  • Local groups and projects – tell us about your projects and activities  - post information to this website and to the newsletter. We are really interested in dates of work days, regular study days and social evenings, film screenings, courses and other events.
  • Write an article for the newsletter, a letter, or post some news.
  • Running stalls and events. We are keen to hear from people that want to get involved in local education and awareness raising. We can supply leaflets and some display materials – please give us plenty of notice! Contact the office for details.
  • Fundraising for international projects. We support projects in Palestine and El Salvador. If you want to support these groups or havbe other permaculture groups and projects that you want to twim with or help financially get in touch to discuss how we can help.
  • Attending the Annual General Meeting. We are passionate that the organisation is run in an open and transparent way, that members are involved in decision making and have an opportunity to comment on proposals and the work or staff and trustees. Attending the AGM is one way that you can get involved in the running of the organisation.
  • Standing for election as a trustee. We have a great trustee team and are keen to keep it developing. If you are interested in getting involved, please speak to the Coordinator in the first place, who will send a pack and then connect you up to the Nominations Committee. Usually we would ask that you attend at least one meeting before standing for election.
  • Volunteering at the office, or remotely from home
  • Distribute leaflets. Maybe you can post them locally, or have a shop or centre that can display leaflets – please do let us know how many you would like.
