Mandø is the smallest island of Denmark. In the winter the population counts about 40 people. In the summer this number grows to a much higher number; thousands visit the island because of the silence and to be close to nature, to see the seals on the vast sand plates around the island, to walk in the tide water and to watch the everchanging horizon under the sun and the clouds.
A few hundred years ago, a few men went to the mainland for their business. That night a storm came up, flooded the island and drowned the population. The 7 men decided to marry again, returned and rebuilt the island. They can be regarded as the founders of the present time Mandø, and their traces are still visible. The history of Mandø is a stunning one.
The nature on and around Mandø is likewise stunning and generous, yet not easy to comprehend. The first impression is that of emptiness. The sands around Mandø look empty, the sky is most times a bit clouded, the wind plays an important role. The rythm on the island is dictated by the tide. In one day one can only get an overall impression and conclude that everything worthwhile has been seen. But after a day or two one starts to see the hidden treasures of Mandø, visible in landscapes and horizons, where a constant supply for life's necessities is hidden, generously offered when discovered.
This is what Any Questions? is about; Find hidden and stunning relations and visions on those relations between nature and mankind on Mandø . You will find detailed information in the website, www.waddenart.eu/any-questions
