Share, celebrate, network and learn
With a focus on local projects and designs this year's convergence brought together members old and new together to share, celebrate, network and learn. We were joined by partners and collaborators, within the ethics of Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Shares.
Over 300 people attended over the weeekend.
Learning
We had a small media crew; Walter Lewis and Lorraine Ishak were photographing and Sunggyul Lee and Helen Iles filming.

A diverse programme
Joining us on the weekend programme are a selection of some of the most inspired and active permaculture teachers, designers and practitioners from across the UK. They will offer a range of workshops that include:

The Teachers' Meeting took place the day before the convergence at the same venue. It explored the future of permaculture education in the UK. More details on what was discussed coming soon.
Venue
Denton Road, Ilkley, West Yorkshire, LS29 0DE
The convergence was hosted here last in 2008. As you may imagine, it's got even better since then.
There are great workshop facilities, we will be catered for with excellent food, and enjoy a beautiful woodland setting. There is limited dormitory accommodation plus plenty of camping space. There is a train station close by.

Accommodation
Accommodation at Nell Bank is available as dormitory beds or camping/campervan space.
Food and Drink
The ticket price included 6 delicious meals provided by Rocket Catering. Rocket specialise in local, organic and seasonal foods.
We recognise food is a very important part of both permaculture and these events, thus we aim to ensure that meals are all of an excellent quality with generous portion sizes!
A bar and café operated onsite through the weekend to provide beverages and snacks in between meal times and in the evenings.
Kids
We welcome children and families at the Convergence. Under-5s enter free, whilst parents of 5-15 year olds are charged a modest contribution to cover food and a little bit on top.
At our Childrens Area, kids are welcome to jump into a creative, fun-filled, permaculture-inspired activity programme in our beautiful, wild adventure playground. Under 4s can get involved if they’re accompanied by an adult.
Stalls
The Convergence is a great place to promote your permaculture enterprise or organisation, sell crafts products and reach a switched-on audience of permaculture people.
Offer a workshop
The convergence is a 100% participatory event. To take part in this manner, you must have purchased an event ticket. The deadline for submitting applications was 1st August and our programme is now live - it was a packed programme! There were opportunities to offer additional sessions onsite at the weekend, where free space exists.
Of course, it's the edges that are fertile, there will be plenty of space and time to meet and discuss with others; it is the participants that make this event.
Volunteering
As ever, in order to make sure this event can happen we need your help! We're looking for some superpowered members and/or Permaculture Ambassadors to join the team in a variety of roles.
